August 6, 2007 - "The strong link between advertising and underage drinking" Hazelden 'Alive & Free' Newsletter
For the past two years, a coalition of U.S. attorneys general that has grown to represent 37 states has pressured the alcohol industry to voluntarily adopt stricter marketing policies regarding minors' exposure to alcohol advertising. In May of this year, Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc., one of the country's largest liquor companies, agreed to cut back on its advertising to people under the age of 21.

3/3/06 -- Anti-Drug Community Excellence Award
Bobak Tavangar, a junior at Conestoga High School, has been working on anti-drug issues at his school over the last few months. He has been promoting random student drug testing as a method of drug prevention. On March 3, 2006, he received an award from the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). The Drug Czar, Mr. John Walters, presented Bobak with the Anti-Drug Community Excellence Award in Washington, DC.

ARCH would like to take this opportunity to respond to some discussion that has arisen regarding parents who allowed their teenager to host a party in their home where alcohol and marijuana were knowingly present. (ARCH is a community coalition in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships that is working to keep kids alcohol and drug free.) We hear this often. Teens are hosting a party. The parents are home, in another part of the house, silently “pretending” that illegal activity is not occurring...[read entire letter].
